Quick & Easy DIY Bracelet Holder

I'm always looking for easy and inexpensive ways to store the things that I love, and this DIY bracelet holder is both of those things.

wooden accordion coat rack before

Last week I shared my treasures from the cottage, and this vintage wooden accordion coat rack was one of the cool things that I came home with.

I haven't been lucky enough to find many of these at my regular thrift store haunts, but they are very helpful and versatile pieces.

The back shows its history with the bright red color beneath the blue, and below the red is the original bare wood.

I'm not going to cover the back, because I like to leave history alone while adding to it.

accordion coat rack spray painted berry pink

This is after two light coats of a berry pink spray paint, and you can see that it still needs a third. Make sure the coats are light because you don't want to paint your coat rack so it won't open smoothly.

TIP: when spray painting these accordion coat racks it's important to move their placement with each coat so you get all the nooks and crannies.

Once you're happy with the coverage, leave it to cure for a couple of days. You really want the spray paint to harden up before hanging things on the pegs.

Creating the DIY Bracelet Holder

measuring space between hangers on back of accordion coat rack

This coat rack came with its original little hangers on the back, and I measured across from hanger to hanger to figure out my placement.

Then I took that measurement and transferred it onto the inside of my bedroom closet door, and I marked where I wanted my holes to be with pencil.

using nails to hang accordion coat rack

I hammered in two regular nails with heads, which the coat rack hangers will slide onto.

It literally took about two minutes to hang my fun and colorful bracelet holder.

if you feel like your coat rack is a little loose or shaky, you could add a finishing nail here and there if necessary.

Mine is hanging pretty nice and tight.

Supplies needed for this DIY Bracelet Holder project

  • wooden accordion coat rack
  • spray paint in color of choice
  • measuring tape
  • hammer
  • pencil
  • nails with heads on them

You could of course use this for necklaces as well, but I don't tend to wear them very often. I think I only have three, so it's definitely a bracelet holder for me.

When I first came up with this project idea I thought I might have to wrap some twine or something around the ends of the pegs to stop the bracelets from falling off.

But that wasn't a problem at all. The shape of the pegs allows the bracelets to sit beautifully without letting them slide off.

It now holds my favorite bracelets, including my two DIY decoupaged bracelets with postage stamps.

And here it is hanging on the inside of my bedroom closet door below my vintage grill earring holders. I took this opportunity to reorganize my earrings, and now there's room for more faves. Yay!

And there's room for a few more bracelets too. Yay again!

Inside door storage is a great way to use an otherwise empty space and when you live in a house with feline friends, you have to keep your jewelry safely out of reach of all those playful paws. lol.

It would be greatly appreciated if you would pin this project to your favorite Pinterest board, and also share it with your friends. Thank you so much!

I hope this project has inspired you to create some out of the box jewelry storage for yourself.

This project is the first thrifty redo from that cottage haul that I mentioned at the beginning of this post.
